Zion requires permits for its most popular routes — plan early.
Angels Landing Permit
RequiredHow: Lottery at recreation.gov — seasonal (3 months ahead) and day-before lotteries.
When: Seasonal: apply 3 months ahead. Day-before: results at 5pm the prior day.
💡 Only required for the final 0.5 miles with chains — below is open to all
Subway Day Permit
RequiredHow: Lottery at recreation.gov. Very competitive.
When: Lottery opens 3 months in advance.
Narrows Overnight
RequiredHow: Lottery for top-down. Bottom-up day hike is permit-free.
When: Apply well in advance for summer dates.
Entrance Fee
RequiredHow: $35/vehicle at the gate. America the Beautiful pass accepted.
When: Upon entry.
