Dardenelles Lake Lake Tahoe

September 10, 2008 by TrailsTV

Dardanelles Lake is a scenic lake with impressive cliffs that offers okay fishing and warm water for swimming, with Lake Tahoe in perspective. Far enough off the thoroughfare of the Tahoe Rim Trail, hikers should be able to enjoy some relative seclusion at this lake.

I like Round Lake better which is right near Dardanelle’s. The camping is good, and the granite cliffs on the south side of the lake are amazing.

Dardenelles is a beautiful lake in wonderful surrounding. You must have been lucky when you visited the lake as last summer about this time, is was very crowded and darn cold :D

Dardanelle is the best – more visually beautiful than Round Lake – actually a great hike as I don't bike. Must be good for mountain biking because several pass me and love it as I hike up there. I camp there every year, and there are far less tourists than Round Lake. The Cliff's are beautiful – nice fishing and swimming too! Better to go to the sunny side to the right of the entrance for more sunny locations.

When entering the backcountry, proper precautions should be taken, including your health and fitness levels, avalanche beacon and the know-how to use it, shovel, compass, friend, weather information, and common sense.
